There are some clubs with MST Academy which practice Free Style Martial Arts. Free Style covers more than one Martial Art (e.g. Taekwondo, Judo, Kick Boxing), so instead of concentrating on one Martial Art, you are able to learn a wider range of skills from many different styles.
KIRTON /BOSTON TAE KWON DO FREESTYLE A simple definition would be a streetwise martial art. In freestyle tae kwon do the whole body can be targeted including punches, kicks and elbows to head and body. Freestyle encourages free movement of moves and combinations to flow quickly and easily. Techniques are used to defend yourself and others around you by using both offensive and defensive moves to control any situation. Advanced moves use minimum power and instead uses the movement and strength of the opponents body against them. Breakaway techniques are used that can both control opponents and also become offensive to eliminate the threat. Take downs, sweeps, locks and pressure points are all used to defend against opponents either unarmed or using weapons that could be used n the street such as knives, bats and bottle etc. Freestyle tae kwon do uses the same patterns as in traditional tae kwon do. Freestyle tae kwon do also uses set combinations that are taught from white belt. There are six different combinations. Combination 1-4 all comprise of 4 parts. Combinations 5 and 6 are taught once the student reaches red belt black stripe and contain more advanced moves that show the balance, technique and power of the student. |
