Iaido at MST Academy

Welcome to the sword art of the samurai

Here at the MST academy we learn the art of the sword as taught by both the British Kendo Association and the ZNKR or All Japan Kendo Federation. We do not unfortunately practice kendo itself as we concentrate on the art side of Iaido.

We are a small but dedicated group and though we practice the same iai as the BKA and ZNKR we are not affiliated to either, we are an independent group and intend to remain that way.

We practice from the same syllabus as the BKA and have direct links to Iai practitioners in Japan.

In this way we can stay away from the politics that plague all martial arts and concentrate on the art itself and with our links directly to a sensei in Japan remain up to date on any relevant changes.

We at MST try to keep our Iaido as near to the traditional art as possible whilst also trying to make it as interesting as we can.

Iaido is not despite appearances the easiest of martial arts to learn in fact because of its technical nature and traditions it is possibly one of the most difficult. Iaido requires dedication commitment and effort and we believe that is the true nature of the martial arts.
